"ate, danny goes home
It was the text message I received from my sister after I crossed the street from work to catch a cab. It took a couple of seconds before sinking in. I waited for a follow-up text message saying "just kidding" but it never came. I just stood there in the waiting shed, watching vehicles pass by. I was so shocked. His voice was too good to not even reach the finals.
My family and friends know I'm a Gokey fan. Hello! I even posted his first performances here in my blog! Those were my first videos! I reached home with my head in a floating-mode. When my sis saw me, she said "sorry sis..." and to her huge surprise, I cried. The last time I cried that much was when... nah forget it. I'm just gonna cry again. Speaking of.., I have to have that checked. It's kind of unhealthy. But that's another topic.
Back to Gokey, I had second thoughts watching the replay because I was thinking if I could bear watching him get eliminated. But I did, with all bravery. And as I've expected, I cried AGAIN. Yes, in front of my mother! And all she said was "you are a big fan..."
This is my second AI heartbreak. The first was when Elliott Yamin (AI season 5) got eliminated to bring Katharine Mcphee and Taylor Hicks to the finals. Taylor Hicks won the season. No comment.
Kris is ok. He's such a good boy, you can't help but like him. And his song choices are those that fits him. He works hard but doesn't overdo things so I'll give him credit for that. Adam is a pro. He's good but he overdoes things specially when he feels the power of his performance. He kind of reminds me of Regine Velasquez. She's good but it's like screeching is a necessity in her performance. The ONLY time I loved Adam was when he sang Mad World. He raised the pitch but it was well controlled. The rest, especially the Aerosmith song performance was plainly "screechy".
Danny has flaws especially in song choices but the voice is undeniably, to quote Simon Cowell, "a vocal masterclass".
Good luck Danny. I'm sure better things will come with your amazing talent. I'm still a fan.
