torpedo no more

I had it.

Some of my friends teased me that I don’t have the guts. Ann said, “Akala ko pa naman guru ka. Ang torpe mo pare!” and Choco said “Mapapabilib mo ko pag nagbago na kwento mo”.

For the past month, I shared the same story. I saw him on the bus on my home. Everytime our eyes meet, I always pull it away.

“Nahihiya ako eh”, was always my retort.

He was the second choice as my escort in elementary in almost all academic clubs (if our classmates get tired of voting my crush), my “opponent” everytime our teacher asks for the meaning of a word, my dance partner, and we’re a duo in finding techniques on how to get a perfect score in our science quiz without cheating (we both believe there’s a way in memorizing those words for enumeration).

So people had dared me to do something about it. And so I did.

I invited him in friendster (yeah cornick). I RARELY invite people that I don’t get to talk to anymore, but I made this one an exception. I invited him and sent him a message asking if he was the one that I frequently see in the bus (yeah lousy. Cliché as it may sound but my heart does skip a beat everytime I see him and I’m not even infatuated!) He sent me a reply after accepting my invitation. He greeted me with my whole name in it. First name middle initial and surname. Whoa! I don’t even know his middle initial! And who cares about middle initial??!! Anyway, he mentioned that “hey you always make iwas everytime I look at you…blah…blah…”

Jeezzz… it made me feel like I could never take the bus from that terminal again.

And last Tuesday night, I saw him. In a peripheral view, I saw him looking at me and so I thought, “Should I look or should I not?” I mustered all courage and looked at him. He was smiling.

Jeezzz… I think everybody in the bus disappeared that moment *laughs*
